Dry or oily dandruff: how to differentiate them?

Do you have dandruff and don't know if it's dry or oily? Let's take a few moments to understand the differences and how to better treat it.

What is a film?

Dandruff is a scaly layer of dead skin that peels off the scalp. It results from a natural skin regeneration process. When this regeneration occurs too quickly, dandruff becomes more visible and numerous.

Dry or oily dandruff: how to recognize them?

  • Dry dandruff : It is white, thin and light , comes off easily and falls on the shoulders. It is often associated with a dry scalp.
  • Oily dandruff : These are yellowish, thick and sticky , remaining attached to the scalp. They are generally linked to excess sebum and an oily scalp.

What causes dandruff?

Dandruff can be caused by several factors:
✔️ Hormonal changes
✔️ Stress and fatigue
✔️ Exposure to dry air, especially in winter with heating
✔️ Use of unsuitable hair products
✔️ Scalp imbalance caused by natural fungus

Recommended products for treating dandruff

  • Melaleuca Shampoo – Oily Scalp
  • Melaleuca Shampoo – Dry Scalp
  • Control Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

For effective treatment, it's essential to use care products tailored to your scalp type and adopt a balanced hair care routine. In cases of persistent dandruff, a more in-depth diagnosis may be necessary to choose the best solution.
